During the first Hotel Expo 2025, organized by the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels (AMHM) in Campeche, the president of the tourism organization, Héctor Cámara Mijangos, stated that the state is failing to increase the average length of stay for tourists arriving in Campeche seeking a wide range of tourism services, including nature, adventure, and cultural attractions.
He emphasized that the estimated stay, according to the Federal Ministry of Tourism, is 1.5 days in the capital city and Ciudad del Carmen, the most urbanized municipalities; however, in other municipalities, stays are often just hours long, despite the wide variety of tourism products available.
He highlighted that they are working together with the State Ministry of Tourism to develop strategies tailored to the realities of the state and to maximize the promotional and advertising materials available to the Ministry and tourism businesses.
The hotelier also emphasized that tourism promotion has always been available; service providers simply need to go to the Ministry of Tourism to obtain it. This includes everything from maps to brochures and pamphlets about places to visit and companies that can provide services such as transportation to desired destinations.
Therefore, he affirmed that it is precisely by working together with the authorities and other organizations that conditions will improve and the dynamism of tourism in different sectors will increase. “We need to be clear about the need for goals, chart our course, and above all, maintain constant communication,” he explained.
This Thursday, the first edition of the 2025 Expo Fair was held in the executive suites of the Ocean View Hotel on the city’s boardwalk. Organizers noted that it is always a good opportunity to connect with various companies and potential suppliers of all kinds, benefiting the hotel sector.
