Truckers will also block main access roads to Tamaulipas

Agricultural producers and truckers in Tamaulipas will hold a peaceful demonstration this Monday, November 24, blocking at least seven strategic points on the state’s highways, including two international bridges.

The purpose is to denounce the crisis affecting the agricultural and freight transport sectors.

The call to action was issued by the National Front for the Rescue of Mexican Agriculture (FNRCM) and the National Association of Carriers and National Chambers of Transportation (ANTAC).

According to information shared on their official accounts, the blockades will be located in the following areas:

Northern Zone:

  1. The La Ribereña region (encompassing Díaz Ordaz, Camargo, and Miguel Alemán). The protest will take place in the town of Villarreales, on the Reynosa-Nuevo Laredo highway.
  2. Kilometer 30 of the Reynosa-Monterrey highway, in the municipality of Méndez.
  3. San Fernando-Reynosa Highway, affecting part of the city of Río Bravo. Protesters will march to the Pharr International Bridge.
  4. Matamoros-Valle Hermoso section, near the Nuevo Progreso International Bridge.

Central Zone:

  1. Kilometer 201 of the Ciudad Victoria-Matamoros Highway, in the municipality of San Fernando.
  2. Kilometer 27 of the González-Aldama Highway.

Southern Zone:

  1. Mante-Ciudad Valles Highway, near the El Abra ejido.

The protest is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

The organizations reiterated that the demonstrations will be peaceful and aim to demand fair conditions for agricultural production, as well as denounce the serious insecurity faced by truckers on federal highways.

The National Front for the Rescue of the Mexican Countryside (FNRCM), an alliance of truckers and farmers, reaffirmed its call for a nationwide “mega-blockade” and the complete closure of highways next Monday, November 24. Leaders of the movement urged citizens to stay home that day, warning that “there will be no passage.”

They emphasized that the mobilization was called due to the lack of results in the dialogue with the government and its main objective is to highlight and demand solutions to a series of problems that, according to the protesters, are affecting the backbone of the country’s economy.

The mobilization will take place on Monday, November 24, and will include the complete closure of highways, the occupation of industrial facilities, and the takeover of customs offices on the northern border. Members of the FNRCM asked citizens to stay home or avoid traveling that day to prevent conflicts.
