The US dollar opened trading this Friday, November 28, 2025, at an exchange rate of 18.35 Mexican pesos, according to information from the Bank of Mexico at the close of trading on the previous business day.
At CitiBanamex, the dollar is trading at 17.79 pesos for buying and 18.81 pesos for selling.
At Elektra – Banco Azteca, the dollar is currently trading at 16.90 MXN for buying and 18.95 MXN for selling.
At international money transfer companies, the dollar is trading today at 17.95 MXN at Western Union.
The official exchange rate is determined by the Bank of Mexico based on an average of wholesale exchange market quotes for transactions settled on the second business day following the start of trading. These quotes are obtained from foreign exchange trading platforms and other electronic means with market representation, the institution explained.
Over the past two years, the Mexican peso has remained relatively strong and stable against the dollar, compared to other world currencies. Following the presidential election in which Claudia Sheinbaum emerged victorious, the official currency devalued, falling below 20 pesos to the dollar. However, in recent months it has strengthened again, trading below 19 pesos to the dollar.
