Officers from the Mérida Municipal Police were notified of a deceased person near the Palace of Music in the city center.
The body was reportedly discovered around 4:00 a.m., as people began walking through the corridors between the Palace of Music, the Peón Contreras Theater, and a Catholic bookstore.
Municipal police paramedics assessed the individual and confirmed they had no vital signs. The body was found on the west side of the museum, in the area with benches for resting.
The cause of death is currently unknown, but personnel from the Institute of Forensic Sciences of the State Attorney General’s Office conducted the necessary procedures at the scene.
The body was removed for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
