Following the joint statement regarding the events in Durango and Coahuila, where Edgar “N,” identified as a high-priority target and financial operator for a criminal group, was arrested, members of the Mexican Navy (Semar), the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), through the National Intelligence Center (CNI), the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the Ministry of National Defense (Defensa), and the National Guard (GN) added to this result with the arrest of five individuals linked to a criminal cell operating in the Laguna region.
During these operations, search warrants were executed at various properties in both Durango and Coahuila, resulting in the seizure of weapons, tactical equipment, and vehicles. Six people were also arrested (including Edgar “N”), weakening the criminal organization involved in the illegal extraction and sale of hydrocarbons in Durango, as well as threats and extortion against merchants and ranchers in the region, and money laundering.
With these actions, the institutions of the Security Cabinet reaffirm their commitment to working in a coordinated manner, utilizing technical and operational intelligence and investigative capabilities, in strict accordance with the law, within the framework of the National Strategy against Extortion.
