As part of efforts to strengthen the fishing sector in Tamaulipas, the Secretariat of Rural Development, Fisheries, and Aquaculture stocked 200,000 tilapia fingerlings in the Emilio Portes Gil and Vicente Guerrero dams, with the goal of boosting commercial fishing and the economic development of rural communities.

The event was led by the Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Jorge de Jesús Montagner Mendoza, who engaged in close dialogue with ejido members and representatives of fishing cooperatives from the municipalities of Casas and González. These representatives raised various needs and requests related to strengthening fishing activity in the region.

He indicated that these actions are part of the commitment of the State Government, led by Américo Villarreal Anaya, to continue promoting rural and fisheries development, providing direct support to communities, and fostering sustainable practices that strengthen the economy of Tamaulipas families.

The work was coordinated by the Secretariat of Rural Development, Fisheries, and Aquaculture, through the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture, reaffirming the commitment of the Government of the State of Tamaulipas to strengthening commercial fishing and protecting inland water ecosystems.

The activities included the participation of the mayor of Casas, Jorge Humberto Hinojosa García; the director of Rural Development for Casas, Mijail Ernesto Balleza; and members of fishing cooperatives from both municipalities, who recognized the importance of these types of initiatives for the sustainable development of the region.
