Cozumel announces its Gastronomic Festival with coconut as the star attraction

At FITUR 2026, Quintana Roo authorities confirmed that the gastronomic event will seek to promote local talent and strengthen culinary tourism on the island.

Within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2026, held in Madrid, Spain, the Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, and the Mayor of Cozumel, José Luis Chacón, officially presented the Fifth Cozumel Gastronomic Festival. The event will take place on February 21 and 22 on the Island of Swallows.

The official announcement included that coconut will be the festival’s featured ingredient, an emblematic product of the region. The presentation emphasized that the festival aims to showcase Cozumel’s culinary richness and promote local talent.

During the event, it was highlighted that the Fifth Gastronomic Festival also aims to strengthen gastronomic tourism, leveraging the island’s privileged natural environment to attract visitors.

Mayor José Luis Chacón expressed his gratitude to the governor and extended an invitation to local, national, and international tourists to enjoy the culinary experience. “We are ready, Governor. Thank you for all your support. We look forward to welcoming you to this paradisiacal place that is Cozumel Island,” he stated.

Mara Lezama emphasized that the diverse gastronomy is an integral part of the Mexican Caribbean’s offerings, reaffirming the region’s status as the Vacation Capital of the World.
