Municipal authorities announced temporary road closures in downtown Puerto Vallarta this week for “Bear Week,” one of the most popular tourist events at the start of the year, attracting thousands of national and international visitors to the city.
From Thursday, January 29, through Saturday, January 31, nighttime road closures will be in effect on Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue, from its intersection with Ignacio L. Vallarta to its intersection with Constitución. These restrictions will be in place from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to allow for the safe execution of activities related to the event.
Authorities urge residents and visitors to respect traffic signs, use alternate routes, and plan their trips in advance to avoid delays during these hours. The “Bear Week” is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community that includes a variety of social events, parties, and themed gatherings at different points throughout the destination, generating a surge in tourism at this time of year.
