Puerto Vallarta is among the seven destinations in Mexico experiencing the greatest growth in medical tourism, according to data from the federal Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur).
This positioning comes in a favorable context for the country, which ranks fourth worldwide in this segment in the Top 50 Medical Tourism Destinations 2026, compiled by the specialized platform Travel and Tour World, which placed Mexico behind only Turkey, Thailand, and India.
The ranking reflects the priorities of international travelers seeking reliable healthcare, specialized expertise, advanced medical technology, competitive treatment costs, shorter waiting times, and recovery experiences supported by solid tourism infrastructure.
The agency emphasized that seven destinations in the country stand out in the medical tourism segment, including Puerto Vallarta.
In addition to its tourism infrastructure and hospitality industry, the destination has more than a dozen hospitals and specialized clinics in areas such as urology, dentistry, ophthalmology, and cosmetic surgery, as well as certified and bilingual physicians.
The destination also has rehabilitation centers, holistic spaces, and spas that complement medical care with recovery and wellness services.
In addition, Puerto Vallarta’s medical infrastructure continues to grow with the construction of the Civil Hospital of the Coast and CMQ Fluvial Hospital, as well as the incorporation of new technologies in laboratories and imaging centers, including digital radiography equipment, 3D mammography, and artificial intelligence for detection and diagnosis, thereby strengthening the destination’s offering of specialized healthcare services.
