The Coahuila state government is maintaining special security operations on the Los Chorros federal highway, one of the most challenging stretches of road in the state due to its mountainous terrain and the constant flow of heavy cargo trucks.

These operations are being carried out in coordination with the National Guard and the Federal Roads and Bridges Agency (Capufe), with the goal of reducing accidents, expediting incident response, and preventing prolonged closures that affect both private users and regional economic activity.

State authorities acknowledge that the Los Chorros section presents a constant challenge due to its winding route, steep inclines, and high concentration of heavy vehicles, factors that increase the risk of accidents.

Each incident on this road can result in blockages lasting several hours, causing logistical delays, economic losses, and disruptions for thousands of motorists who use this strategic highway daily.

The Secretary of Government, Óscar Pimentel González, reported that the strategy includes a constant presence of security forces, preventive signage, and immediate response to any incident, in order to clear the roadway as quickly as possible.

Furthermore, they are working jointly with the State Attorney General’s Office to expedite legal and forensic processes when an accident occurs, preventing the highway from remaining closed for extended periods.

As part of the follow-up, the Coahuila Public Security Secretariat will present technical progress and preliminary results to the Southeast Region Security and Development Council, where new preventive measures will be analyzed while a highway redesign project is being defined.

State authorities emphasized that in Coahuila, road safety is addressed through permanent institutional coordination, with the participation of the Army, the National Guard, and state agencies, prioritizing the protection of road users and the continuous flow of traffic on one of the state’s most important highways.
