building used as a bunker by a criminal group was dismantled this Friday in the Mezcalapa-Ocuilapa region, in Chiapas, as a result of an inter-institutional operation. The action left four people arrested, as well as the seizure of weapons, a stolen vehicle, and various evidence linked to high-impact crimes.

According to state authorities, the property operated as a center of criminal operations, where people deprived of liberty were allegedly sheltered and illicit activities were coordinated in the area.

Inter-institutional operation made it possible to locate the bunker in Chiapas.

The Secretary of People’s Security, Óscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, reported that the seizure was the result of a robust and permanent operation, deployed in the towns of Ocuilapa and El Carrizal.

During the intervention, elements of the People’s Security Secretariat managed to enter the building, identified as a key point for criminal logistics in the region.

Weapons, video surveillance, and illicit collection of documents

At the scene, a vehicle with a theft report, a long gunvideo surveillance equipment, and documentation related to illicit collections, in addition to various evidence associated with kidnapping, drug trafficking, and extortion, was seized.

The authorities indicated that these indications will allow them to expand the lines of investigation and locate other possible members of the criminal cell.

The building stood out for its fortified structure, with armored doorssecret passages, and strategic surveillance and attack positions, which confirms, according to the authority, its use as a facility designed to resist operations and facilitate criminal activities.

Aparicio Avendaño explained that, throughout the week, four members of the criminal group were arrested, including the operational arm of the leader in the region, who were also seized with four long guns and another vehicle with a theft report.

With these actions, he said, it was possible to significantly reduce the operational and logistical capacity of the criminal organization that operated in this area of Chiapas.

Investigations against criminal disinformation networks

The official added that investigations continue to dismantle networks for the dissemination of false information linked to criminal groups. As part of these actions, a digital page has already been removed by court order, while there are ongoing legal proceedings against other platforms.
