In the early hours of Sunday, February 8, armed criminals assaulted the Abkatún Alfa and Delta platforms in Campeche and stole 30 self-contained breathing apparatus before escaping.
The double robbery of oil platforms in Campeche is added to a series of illegal incursions, despite Semar’s vigilance.
On board riverside boats, a group of heavily armed criminals assaulted two oil platforms: Abkatún Alfa and Abkatún Delta.
On this occasion, the modern corsairs only took 30 Autonomous Breathing Equipment (ERA); no injuries or arrests were reported.
This well-synchronized double robbery occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 8. The armed men boarded the oil platforms, firing shots in the air to intimidate the workers, who were forced to take refuge in the engine rooms.
After seizing the equipment, the assailants escaped, as always, to an unknown destination.
An hour later, elements of the Secretariat of the Navy arrived at the oil structures to take statements from the personnel about what happened there.
This new assault is in addition to a series of illegal incursions into oil platforms that have become a daily occurrence, even though the Secretariat of the Navy maintains surveillance in the Campeche Sound through boats and drones. The last robbery occurred last year, on August 19, at the Akal Romeo platform, which belongs to the Akal-C Complex, considered the largest marine processing center in the world.
On that occasion, a group of hooded men used the same technique by firing shots in the air when approaching the structure.
And on that occasion they took more than 50 Autonomous Breathing Equipment and fled without leaving any injuries.
