As part of its 36th anniversary celebration, the Ballet Folklórico de Zacatecas (BFZ) will embark on a national tour from today until March 31st as part of the 31st Michoacán World Dance and Arts Festival.

The dancers, known for their traditional dances, will perform in various municipalities throughout Michoacán as part of the celebration, showcasing traditional dances from Zacatecas for the enjoyment of audiences.

The BFZ opened its tour with a gala performance in the municipality of Yurécuaro, where the 29 dancers, along with the technical team, surprised the audience with traditional dances from Morelos.

The program also includes dances from the Hacienda de Pinos and the Dance of the Pardos from Miguel Auza, “with the original costumes from all the regions,” highlighted Francisco Uribe Rojas, director of the dance company.

“Following Pinos, the state’s representative dance, Mexicapan, is performed—the original, with its meticulously crafted costumes, to be worthy representatives of Zacatecas,” he elaborated.

As part of the performance, he highlighted that the company presented a tambora band and a musical ensemble to enrich the audience’s experience during their visit to Michoacán, which is also emblematic of Mexican folklore.

The BFZ will soon be part of the 35th edition of the Geranium Fair, to be held this week in the municipality of Tingambato, Michoacán.

In this regard, Uribe Rojas emphasized that these tours strengthen the ties between Zacatecas and Michoacán through dance, “consolidating the brotherhood because we represent the state, and it is reciprocal.”

Upon their return, the company’s performances will continue in the state capital, as part of the Zacatecas Cultural Festival (FCZ), and in other independent performances to continue celebrating 36 years of dance.
