Zacatecas native Mateo Girón Félix will be looking to return to the winner’s podium in the third race of the 2026 Challenge Series season, a category belonging to the NASCAR Mexico Series (NMS), which will be held in Tulum, Quintana Roo.
The race is scheduled for April 26, where the Zacatecas representative will try to regain positions in the overall standings after failing to score any points in the previous race held in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas.
In that race, the driver was involved in an accident that forced him to retire on lap 86, when he was close to completing the official Challenge Series course. Despite the severity of the crash, Girón Félix escaped injury.
The Zacatecas driver arrived in Tuxtla with good momentum, after achieving a second-place finish in his debut in the category, a result that positioned him as one of the contenders to fight for the top spots in the racing series.
However, the incident dashed his hopes of repeating his podium finish. Even so, with the championship in its early stages, the driver remains confident of regaining ground in the upcoming races of the 2026 NASCAR Mexico Series season.
