No plans for April? Head to the nighttime picnic in Chapultepec Park! There will be lights, lanterns, music, and free admission. Check out the details!
The nighttime picnic in Chapultepec Park is back in 2026, and you absolutely have to be there. Imagine the park at night, lights everywhere, while you dine al fresco. It’s the reset the city owed us, and that you need.
The event is on Saturday, April 4, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., at the Xochipilli Fountain (Second Section). Best of all, admission is free!
What you should know about the nighttime picnic in Chapultepec Park: This time, the Paseo de los Compositores (Composers’ Promenade) will be completely transformed. It’s not just about sitting on the grass; the area will be filled with light installations and reflections in the water that look incredible.
The plan is super simple but a winner:
Bring your favorite blanket.
Pack your dinner (make sure you pack a nice snack).
Relax with the special playlist as the whole area lights up. What more could you ask for?
This picnic is the crown jewel of the 2026 Chapultepec Forest Festival, a huge event with more than 21 venues featuring:
Workshops and live music.
Film and dance under the trees.
Art installations and activated fountains.
But let’s face it: the nighttime picnic has that special touch because everything feels more magical at night, right?
To make sure your night goes smoothly, take note of the access rules. Here’s what you CAN bring:
All the food you want.
Your blanket or mat for the grass.
Drinks (as long as they’re non-alcoholic).
Heads up: Zero alcohol. Security is strict, so don’t even try.
How to get to the picnic?
Driving that day will be difficult due to parking. The best and fastest option is to use the Cablebús (cable car). Get off at the Panteón Dolores station and from there it’s a very short walk to the Xochipilli Fountain.
If you’re staying in Mexico City these days, this plan ticks all the boxes: it’s outdoors, it’s different, it’s totally unpretentious, and above all, it’s Instagrammable. Ideal for going with your date, your friends, or even on your own to disconnect from the chaos for a while.
