A Chinese businessman was shot and killed in the municipality of Comitán de Domínguez, Chiapas, allegedly during a robbery, security sources reported.
According to police reports, the victim, identified as Feng Huilum, was leaving a bank branch in the Candelaria neighborhood and heading to his truck when he was intercepted by two men on a motorcycle.
The man, approximately 45 years old and owner of restaurants in the Meseta Comiteca Tojolabal region of Chiapas, died at the scene, the sources indicated.
Emergency and police personnel arrived at the crime scene, where they established a security perimeter and launched an operation in the area, without any results so far.
Relatives of the Chinese businessman also arrived at the scene and identified the victim’s body, which was taken to the Forensic Medical Service.
Sources from the State Attorney General’s Office indicated that an investigation into the crime has been launched, although the agency did not officially report on the possible motive.
