Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña, of the Morena party, erupted after being questioned by PUNTO NORTE about his frequent trips around the world and his use of luxury armored SUVs since becoming a senator in 2024. In fact, during his visit to Tijuana on Friday, March 13, the Morena senator arrived at the Hotel Lucerna in a black, armored Cadillac Escalade Premium Luxury without license plates, a vehicle valued at between 3 and 4 million pesos.

Noroña was accompanied by Senator Armando Ayala Robles, representing Baja California and former mayor of Ensenada, and they were escorted by a second Cadillac Escalade and a Mexican Navy patrol vehicle.
Noroña’s SUV displayed a blue parking permit for people with disabilities, allowing him to park in the designated spaces and avoid walking a few extra meters to the hotel ballroom. The journalist from PUNTO NORTE questioned Noroña about his new lifestyle, “far removed from the austerity preached by the Fourth Transformation.”

Exalted and annoyed, and after interrupting the reporter several times, the Morena party member made a sarcastic remark about his travels in Baja California.

“The most relevant thing for you is that I’m a guy who indulges in outrageous luxuries because I dare to get into a truck whose owner I don’t even know, and which you consider very luxurious. How do you think we should get to Ensenada?” he argued.
