57

The woman, who is allegedly a key figure in a fraud ring that reportedly includes state government officials, allegedly made a payment of 200,000 pesos to a judge to reach a settlement with one of the victims, Guadalupe.

According to unofficial sources, one of the conditions for the settlement was that she have formal employment. A man named Jorge Alberto L. C. reportedly appeared in court and claimed that the alleged perpetrator had worked for him for three years and promised to continue employing her as a driver in the community of Dzilam González.

According to the National Transparency Platform (PNT), Jorge Alberto L. C. was part of the Organization Secretariat of the Morena party, according to the last registration (June 30, 2025) for the 2025 fiscal year. It could not be confirmed whether he remains an active member of the party.

This same person was the one who waited for Liany Nery A. P. upon her release from the Mérida Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) yesterday afternoon.

The release of this woman has left a sense of injustice among the dozens of victims, who hope that their case files will be brought before the State Attorney General’s Office so that they too can obtain justice.

The victims have decided not to give a formal statement for now, because they fear that doing so could jeopardize the criminal proceedings.
