Based on information from INEGI’s National Urban Public Security Survey, the municipalities in the State of Mexico with the highest rates of neighbor disputes during the third quarter of 2025 have been identified.

Nezahualcóyotl, 41%.

Atizapán de Zaragoza, 40%.

Naucalpan, 39%.

Ecatepec, 33%.

The same survey revealed the main causes of conflict among residents of the State of Mexico, listing the following problems:

Noise.
Parking problems.
Misunderstandings.
Problems related to pets.
Littering.
Disturbances caused by intoxicated individuals or gangs.
Graffiti or vandalism on homes.
Failure to pay neighborhood fees.
Street vending.
Family disputes.

What actions are being taken in different municipalities to change the perception of safety?

This increase in conflicts in the State of Mexico has led authorities to emphasize the need to strengthen mediation mechanisms, promote physical activity, and implement community outreach programs to prevent disagreements from escalating into violence within the state.

In response, in eastern Mexico State, the mayor of Nezahualcóyotl, Adolfo Cerqueda, has initiated efforts to build peaceful territories, promoting strategies to address these recurring problems in the area.

The objective of these actions is to improve visibility and increase the perception of safety in various parts of the State of Mexico, where a comprehensive intervention is being carried out at strategic locations.
