The Mexican government announced the auction of a property in a country club in Tapalpa, Jalisco, for $750,000. This is the same area where former Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) leader Nemesio Oseguera, alias “El Mencho,” was killed during a confrontation with army forces last February as part of a security operation.

According to official information, the property is not directly linked to the drug lord, although it is located in the area where the operation took place in which the alleged criminal leader lost his life. Following his death, the CJNG reportedly carried out roadblocks and burned vehicles in various parts of the country, according to federal authorities.

The property is part of a group of 211 properties that will be auctioned by the Mexican government next Thursday, as part of assets seized by various institutions, including the Attorney General’s Office.

The property in Tapalpa has an approximate starting price of $750,000, according to the official federal auction listing. Authorities indicated that these assets originated from seizures made during various investigations related to federal crimes.

The federal government has reiterated that the auctions of seized assets are part of the strategy to recover resources obtained through illicit activities, which are then incorporated into public sales processes managed by government agencies.

In previous years, properties linked to various criminal groups have been included in auctions, among them houses associated with Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, who is currently serving a sentence in the United States.

Mexican authorities have maintained these auction mechanisms as part of the final disposition of assets seized in operations against organized crime, which include real estate, vehicles, and other assets.

The land in Tapalpa is included in this general process, although no direct legal connection between the property and the former leader of the CJNG has been reported to date.

The auction will be held publicly next Thursday, as part of the list of 211 properties included in this edition
