Restaurant Owners Report Low Sales in Campeche City

The president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac), Rodrigo Bojórquez Ruiz, reported that sales in the restaurant sector are low and that to increase them, events must be held to encourage people to go out and eat at businesses.

“While this isn’t an easy time, we can’t stop working, we can’t stop holding more frequent events that can help offset this slight economic downturn we’re experiencing in the restaurant industry. But we will continue working to improve these numbers.”

Although he said there haven’t been any layoffs in restaurants, they are adjusting their hours or closing on certain days, and even modifying some dishes, always striving to provide customers with the same service and quality.

“Let’s remember that when we’re going through a difficult time, it’s relatively complicated. It’s not just about cutting costs; it’s also about offering promotions, inviting people, trying to prevent sales from dropping. And, well, most restaurants are implementing different strategies to mitigate the impact of this downturn,” he noted.

He indicated that the last thing the sector wants is to close its businesses. Therefore, everyone must work together to move forward.

He affirmed that this is a complicated year, full of challenges, just like last year for the sector, but adjustments must be made because closing businesses, which are their livelihood, is the last resort. Instead, incentives and invitations should be offered to everyone to support the sector and achieve the positive results that business owners so desperately need.
