Heavy Rains Expected in Yucatán Over the Next Few Days

Rainfall accumulations exceeding 100 millimeters are expected in areas of the northwest, west, and southwest of the state; Procivy recommends staying informed and following official instructions.

The State Government, through the State Coordination of Civil Protection (Procivy), reports that atmospheric conditions favorable for heavy to intense rainfall will persist in Yucatán over the next five days.

These conditions are due to abundant moisture from the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the interaction of various atmospheric systems in the region.

The highest rainfall accumulations are expected in municipalities in the northwest, west, and southwest of the state, where localized amounts could exceed 100 millimeters.

In the rest of the state, rainfall of varying intensity is expected, with accumulations between 70 and 100 millimeters, although higher amounts associated with the development of slow-moving storms cannot be ruled out.

The head of Procivy, Hernán Hernández Rodríguez, clarified that the most significant rainfall will occur mainly during the afternoons and evenings; however, light to moderate rain is possible in the mornings.

Given these conditions, the public is advised to stay informed through official sources, avoid traveling on flooded streets, exercise extreme caution when driving in heavy rain, and follow the instructions issued by Civil Protection authorities.

Procivy and the municipal Civil Protection offices are maintaining constant monitoring of the evolving weather conditions and will issue updates as needed.
