According to a report in the newspaper Reforma, the United States government located a criminal organization that, since 2020, had been trafficking methamphetamine from Campeche for distribution in Iowa and Nebraska, using Facebook for this purpose.

The report specifies that on May 27, Interpol-Mexico agents, acting on an extradition warrant, arrested Juan Carlos G. P. in Campeche. He is identified as one of the alleged leaders of the group.

Juan Carlos, born in 1988 and known to his accomplices as “Campeche,” “Fabián Andrade,” or Juan Carlos González, was wanted by the U.S. Department of Justice to stand trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa on charges of conspiracy to possess and with intent to distribute methamphetamine or a methamphetamine mixture.

He was incarcerated in the Reclusorio Oriente prison and a week later informed the judge that he accepted extradition.

Thanks to accomplices and legally authorized wiretaps of his communications, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) identified him as one of the leaders of the methamphetamine trafficking organization.

The extradition file, Reforma adds, specifies that the organization was based in Campeche and that from at least October 2020 until approximately March 25, 2025, it imported large quantities of methamphetamine from Mexico to the United States for distribution.

It indicates that he was located three years ago after coordinating the sale of a pound of methamphetamine to a DEA informant. The communication to reach an agreement regarding the delivery took place via Facebook Messenger.

According to the DEA, Juan Carlos oversaw the preparation of hundreds of pounds of the drug in Mexico and organized its importation into the United States in vehicles.
