Ixtapa–Zihuatanejo continues to see hotel occupancy above 40 percent.

Hotel occupancy in the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo beach resort area remains high following the arrival of domestic and international tourists over the weekend—many of whom are staying through Tuesday—resulting in a hotel room occupancy rate of 40.5 percent, the state Tourism Secretariat reported.

Figures indicate that Ixtapa alone maintains an occupancy rate of 45.1 percent, while Zihuatanejo recorded 17.1 percent.

For the port of Acapulco, overall occupancy stands at 25.3 percent; broken down by zone, the “Dorada” (Golden) area is at 30.4 percent, “Diamante” at 20.1 percent, and the “Náutica” or “Tradicional” area at 9.7 percent.

The silver-crafting city of Taxco de Alarcón remained at just 9.7 percent, bringing the overall average for all destinations comprising the “Triángulo del Sol” (Triangle of the Sun) to 29.1 percent.

Additionally, condominium occupancy stood at 27 percent in Acapulco’s Golden Zone and 20 percent in the Diamante zone, while timeshare occupancy remains at 29 percent in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and 19 percent in Acapulco.
