A group of 23 young students from Aguascalientes are representing Mexico at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) 2026, a global mathematics competition held in Southeast Asia.
The students from Aguascalientes attend three schools: General Secondary School No. 2 “José Clemente Orozco,” the Aguascalientes City School, and Cedros Secondary School, all located in the state capital.
They earned the opportunity to represent Mexico in one of the world’s most prestigious student mathematics competitions thanks to their outstanding performance at a previous event of the same type: the Singapore and Asian Schools Mathematics Olympiad held a few months ago.
In the current competition, the students from Aguascalientes have recently faced a series of individual and team challenges that test their problem-solving skills and demonstrate their logical thinking, creativity, and teamwork abilities. They are competing against teams of students from various countries.
The results achieved in these competitions in recent years have solidified our state’s position among the leading participants in this type of international competition, and the awards and medals won reflect the high level of preparation of our students, according to the Aguascalientes Institute of Education (IEA).
