The State Civil Protection Coordination has the operational capacity, materials, and equipment necessary to support the state’s 18 municipalities in the event of any emergency arising from rainfall in Querétaro, confirmed the head of the agency, Javier Amaya Torres.

The official specified that the agency maintains a preventative stock of 5,000 sandbags ready and filled for immediate deployment in vulnerable areas, in addition to a strategic reserve of 10,000 units stored to respond as needs increase in the municipalities.

In terms of technical infrastructure, the agency has specialized extraction pumps—including solids-guzzling units—to accelerate water drainage in critical areas experiencing severe flooding or standing water.

Amaya Torres noted that, as part of the proactive mitigation strategy, sandbags have been distributed in various sectors of the state, while continuous meteorological monitoring is being maintained. He also announced that the coordination team is already preparing an evaluation of this year’s operational performance in order to optimize planning and response capacity for upcoming rainy seasons.
