The suspect allegedly targeted travelers by offering bogus lodging and travel services across several prominent tourist destinations throughout Mexico, including Jalisco, Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Quintana Roo.
The investigation and subsequent arrest originated from a formal complaint filed by an affected citizen who deposited nearly 80,000 pesos to secure a hotel reservation in Cancun that had been scheduled for early January. The deception unraveled when the victim attempted to confirm the booking directly with the lodging establishment, only to discover that no official record of the reservation or the associated payments existed in their systems. Realizing they had been targeted by a scam, the victim immediately filed a criminal report with local authorities.
Following the complaint, collaborative field work and technological investigation methods deployed by cyber police units allowed law enforcement to track down the suspect. Officers successfully located and apprehended him in the municipality of Zapopan, executing an active arrest warrant for the crime of fraud.
