Metropolitan Services (Servimet) announced the expansion of the network of smart public restrooms in Mexico City (CDMX).

The city’s smart public restroom system continues to grow with the arrival of two new modules that will soon begin operating in different areas of the capital.

If you have ever needed a restroom while walking around Mexico City, this information could be very useful.

The new facilities aim to make mobility more comfortable for people traveling through the city by providing accessible, hygienic, and safe public spaces.

These Are the Smart Public Restrooms Already Operating in CDMX

According to Servicios Metropolitanos (Servimet), the smart public restrooms already installed in Mexico City provide service from 6:00 a.m. to midnight (06:00–24:00) at different locations throughout the city.

Restrooms in the Southern and Southeastern Areas of CDMX

In addition, two more smart restrooms are located in the southern and southeastern areas of the capital.

Their use is free of charge, and access is controlled by security personnel. They operate from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (08:00–20:00).

New Smart Public Restrooms

On Monday, August 3, Servimet announced the installation of two additional smart public restroom modules, located in the Roma neighborhood.

Currently, these units are waiting for the necessary connection work to be completed before they can begin providing service to citizens.

Temporarily Removed Restrooms

Servimet also announced the temporary removal of two units that were operating on a trial basis at the Jardín Flotante area (at the corners of Cerrada de Fray Servando with Chimalpopoca and San Antonio Abad with Cerrada Fray Servando).

These modules will be reinstalled once the necessary infrastructure works are completed.

Finally, the agency stated that its goal is to complete the installation of a total of 26 modules during this year, ensuring optimal conditions of universal accessibility, hygiene, and safety to provide better service to citizens.

Rates and Payment Methods

Access to the smart restrooms operated by Servimet costs $7 pesos.

The corresponding payment can be made through two different methods.

After completing the payment, users will have a maximum time limit of nine minutes to use the facilities. Once this period ends, an audible alert will activate to indicate that the user must leave the restroom.
