A motorist captured on video the exact moment when an armed man robbed a couple who were outside a bank branch at the Flamingos shopping center, in Bucerías, Bahía de Banderas, on the afternoon of Thursday, August 6.
The images, which quickly began circulating on social media, show the alleged criminal, holding a gun, taking two handbags from the victims and then fleeing the scene.
Preliminary reports indicated that the couple was allegedly carrying around 100,000 pesos in cash, money they had apparently just withdrawn from a bank. This information has not been officially confirmed by authorities.
The video shows a man wearing a red shirt and khaki shorts lying on the pavement after suffering an injury to his left leg, while a woman struggles with the alleged robber in an attempt to prevent the theft.
The suspect was wearing a white shirt, a cap, a face mask, and blue jeans. After taking the victims’ belongings, he fled in an unknown direction.
Officers from the Bahía de Banderas Municipal Police arrived at the scene as first responders and secured the area, while paramedics provided medical attention to the injured man, who was later taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Following the violent robbery, security agencies launched a search operation to try to locate the suspect, while authorities continue investigating the incident to clarify what happened.
