A motorist was arrested by police officers in Mexico City after being discovered transporting an endangered white Bengal tiger inside his private vehicle. The unusual and alarming incident occurred during routine security and surveillance patrols in the capital, when officers noticed suspicious behavior from the driver and decided to conduct a thorough inspection of the automobile.
Upon opening the vehicle, authorities were stunned to find a live juvenile white Bengal tiger confined inside, lacking any visible legal documentation, proper permits, or specialized transport conditions required for handling exotic wildlife. The driver failed to present any official authorization from the federal environmental agency proving the legal acquisition or lawful possession of the endangered animal.
Police immediately placed the suspect under arrest and transferred him to the local Public Ministry office, where he will face federal charges for the illegal trafficking and possession of protected wildlife species. Meanwhile, specialized environmental and animal control authorities were called in to secure the tiger.
