According to reports, the girl was approximately one kilometer from the shore, near Punta Arena, directly across from La Paz Bay in Baja California Sur.
Local media reported that the girl became stranded after ocean currents caused her and her father to fall from the board. After her father placed her back on the surfboard to keep her safe, the wind began pushing her farther away from the shore, prompting him to quickly seek help from nearby fishermen.
