The off-road competition took place last weekend in two stages, covering a total of 1,000 kilometers through one of the desert regions in the state of Coahuila.

The rally-style speed race brought together more than 400 drivers from different states across Mexico and 11 different nationalities, including Oaxacan riders Emilio Velázquez, Marco Antonio Ferman, and José “Stitch” Ramírez, who competed on enduro motorcycles in the rookie category.

The motorsport competition featured UTVs, pickup trucks, Jeeps, and modified buggies. The stages ran from Torreón to Saltillo and from Saltillo to Monclova, with each covering approximately 500 kilometers through the desert, for a combined total of 1,000 kilometers.

In their first participation in one of the best rallies of its kind held in Mexico, the Coahuila 1000, the rookie category podium was entirely Oaxacan, with Emilio Velázquez taking first place, Antonio Ferman second, and José Ramírez third.

After receiving their respective trophies, the three Oaxacan riders stated that they will return to compete next year, with the firm goal of repeating their sporting achievement
