Carlos Miguel “N”, alias “El Abulón”, “El León” or “El iguano”, identified as the second-in-command of the group known as “Los Mezcales“, the armed wing of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Colima, was arrested by personnel from the Mexican Navy Secretariat (Semar) in Oaxaca.
According to information from Semar, Carlos Miguel “N” was captured north of the capital city of Oaxaca during an operation carried out by agency personnel, based on intelligence work and information sharing with other institutions, including the State Investigations Agency (AEI) of the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO).
In this regard, Semar explained that “Los Mezcales” is one of the main criminal groups generating violence in Colima, “linked to high-impact crimes such as homicides, extortion, drug dealing and territorial disputes in municipalities such as Colima, Villa de Álvarez, Tecomán, Armería and Manzanillo.”
After his arrest, “El Abulón” was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal status.
