The Director of Public Security of Juchipila, Zacatecas, and a municipal police officer were arrested Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the crime of aggravated kidnapping, according to the state’s Attorney General, Cristian Paul Camacho Osnaya.

The detainees are Pedro Humberto “N,” known as “Aquiles,” head of the department, and Marco “N,” a member of the Municipal Police. Arrest warrants were executed against both during an operation carried out in the municipality.

Camacho Osnaya explained that, in addition to the arrests, two search warrants were executed as part of an investigation conducted under the Plan Sagaz operation, a security strategy coordinated between Aguascalientes and Zacatecas.

The prosecutor ruled out any connection between the case and the recent arrest of a woman identified as “La China,” stating that “it is a completely separate matter” when asked about a possible relationship between the two cases.

Following the arrests, authorities have maintained a security deployment in Juchipila and other areas of southern Zacatecas.

Camacho Osnaya assured that the situation is “fully under control” and urged residents to follow the authorities’ instructions.

The operation involves personnel from the State Police, National Guard, and Mexican Army, with a permanent presence in the area rather than only at the locations where the searches were conducted.

The Zacatecas prosecutor also stated that Sagaz, which was launched a little over a month and a half ago, has enabled authorities to carry out arrests, prevention operations, and seizures of slot machines, as well as respond to reports from citizens.

Public Officials With Alleged Ties to Drug Traffickers Arrested in Zacatecas

Camacho Osnaya also indicated that investigations have led to the arrest of other public officials from municipal law enforcement agencies in the southern region.

Among the cases he mentioned was that of Juan Diego “N,” former Director of Public Security of Tlaltenango, who was arrested for aggravated kidnapping, and Alfredo “N,” a former officer in Teúl de González Ortega, who is accused of extortion, bribery, and criminal association.

The prosecutor said the investigations are ongoing and that the security deployment will remain in the region.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Government of Zacatecas confirmed that security forces carried out an operation in Juchipila, where several people were arrested. He said the State Attorney General’s Office would provide details of the operation.
