The Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas (FGJ) arrested Juan Jesús “M” this Thursday for his alleged involvement in the feminicide of Dafne Zapata, a 13-year-old girl who was killed at the Marina Doenitz Military Academy, located in Ciudad Madero.
“The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of Crimes Against Children and Adolescents and Crimes Against Women for Gender-Based Reasons (FENNAM) executed an arrest warrant against Juan Jesús ‘M’ for his alleged involvement in the crimes of Aggravated Family Violence and Aggravated Rape, against an adolescent whose identity has been withheld,” the institution reported through its official X account.
The man is the brother of Estrellita Mora Díaz, a member of the school’s teaching staff where the teenager died, and is the fourth person arrested in connection with the case. He joins Jorge Luis Ponce Ortega, director of the academy, and Danna Yanina N, an alleged 18-year-old assistant instructor.
The institution’s employees claimed that the girl had fainted because of low blood pressure or while she was bathing. However, the official autopsy determined that the actual cause of death was asphyxiation by drowning due to excessive water in the girl’s lungs, and she also showed evidence of craniofacial trauma.
Judge Admits Danna Yanina “N”’s Constitutional Protection Lawsuit
On August 19, a federal judge admitted the direct constitutional protection lawsuit filed by Carlos David Robles Figueroa, a member of Danna Yanina “N”’s legal team. She was charged on July 28 in connection with the feminicide of Dafne Zapata Quintos.
The defense turned to federal justice through a lawsuit consisting of 92 pages and several attachments, documenting the alleged irregularities identified during the proceedings.
“The federal judge must analyze the 92 pages plus the attachments of the indirect constitutional protection lawsuit we filed, where we are very specific and meticulous in demonstrating all the fundamental violations that Danna suffered at the hands of the authorities,” the legal representative stated.
At the same time, he questioned the actions of local authorities and claimed that there is resistance to acknowledging possible errors in the case file.
“As I told you, the local authorities in Tamaulipas have something against Danna. They are incapable of accepting that they made a mistake and that they have an innocent young woman in prison. It is not possible that the first-instance judge has not even sent the appeal to the second instance yet,” he added.
