Three young people die after being struck by a train at a railway crossing in Durango.

Three teenagers died this Friday, August 28, after a blue 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck was struck by a train near the El Quemado ejido, in Gómez Palacio, Durango.

According to the police report, the vehicle attempted to beat the train at the crossing, but was struck by the railway locomotive and overturned beside the tracks.

The Red Cross confirmed at the scene the deaths of three male minors: Luis M. M., identified as the driver; Dylan Israel L. M., 17; and Carlos H. V., 15.

The accident was reported shortly after noon. State Police officers arrived at the scene, where Civil Protection and the Red Cross were already present.

Personnel from SEMEFO carried out the removal of the bodies, while the National Guard took charge of securing the vehicle.

Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office, Public Prosecutor’s Office, National Defense, Civil Protection, Red Cross, and State Police also participated at the scene.
