Roger Aguilar Arroyo, former mayor of Motul and current director of the Institute for Regional and Municipal Development of Yucatán, has been singled out by local media due to the rapid growth of his assets.
According to journalistic investigations, he is currently allegedly linked to at least six ranches, including one of approximately 800 hectares in Tizimín, valued at 300 million pesos, another in Panabá worth 8 million pesos, and one in Puebla valued at around 10 million pesos.
He is also reportedly involved in livestock activities through the company Ganadería AS, with approximately 200 head of cattle and 120 horses.
His wife, Kelly Sosa Lugo, has also been linked to rental contracts with government agencies, including a property rented to the Motul City Council for 50,000 pesos per month and another space used by the Secretariat of Welfare for 80,000 pesos per month.
The investigations question whether this increase in assets has a clear explanation in relation to his official income and point to possible irregularities during his municipal administrations.
There are also allegations concerning alleged diversion of public resources, contracts, livestock support programs, and people who allegedly appeared as beneficiaries without being actual producers. However, these allegations are the subject of journalistic investigations and complaints and do not constitute a judicial conviction.
The main issue in the case is to determine where the funds used to acquire his properties and develop his businesses came from, something that would require reviewing asset declarations, property records, contracts, tax information, and financial transactions.
