El Puerto de Liverpool announced a strategic partnership with Primark to introduce the international fashion chain to Mexico under a franchise model, with the objective of expanding its brand portfolio.
“Through this partnership, Liverpool will strengthen its portfolio and expand its relationships with global brands, while Primark will bring Mexican consumers a proposition it has developed in other markets around affordable fashion and everyday essentials,” Liverpool said in a statement.
Liverpool and Primark will jointly determine the locations, openings, and pace of store expansion in Mexico.
The Mexican company said that details regarding the chain’s rollout will be announced as the planning process progresses.
The arrival of Primark adds to Liverpool’s portfolio, which operates a network of 321 stores under the Liverpool and Suburbia brands, as well as more than 30 shopping centers and an e-commerce platform.
For Primark, the agreement represents its entry into Mexico through a partner with nationwide presence and established commercial infrastructure.
What is Primark?
Primark is an international fashion retailer founded in Ireland in 1969. It currently operates more than 500 stores in 19 global markets and is known for offering clothing and home merchandise at affordable prices.
The Irish chain has an international operation of more than 500 establishments distributed across 19 markets, although the cities where it will begin operations and the expansion schedule have not yet been disclosed.
Primark’s arrival comes after Liverpool announced the creation of Global Lifestyle and Apparel Management (GLAM), a new division focused on the wholesale business that began with the exclusive distribution of Dockers in Mexico.
The unit sells the brand through Liverpool’s unified commerce platform and also distributes it to third parties, opening a sales channel that had not previously been part of the company’s operations.
Liverpool opens an investment option
In addition to its partnership with Primark, El Puerto de Liverpool is also entering the investment sector through a partnership with Actinver to become part of its customers’ financial lives.
It launched Activa Liverpool, an account developed in partnership with Actinver that combines returns, liquidity, and benefits for purchases at its own stores. Through this offering, customers with investments of more than 20,000 pesos can receive an annualized return of up to 7% and up to 7% cashback on purchases made at Liverpool stores, Liverpool.com.mx, and Liverpool Pocket, according to the product’s terms and conditions.
