Club Samoa, a martial arts school with locations in Tampico and Ciudad Madero, offers free self-defense classes to women so they can defend themselves in case they experience a risky situation.

Ricardo Rodríguez Vega, a member of Club Samoa, indicated that they started this type of activities last year to support all those women who might be in a situation where their physical integrity is at risk.

“It is a program that was implemented last year, where we are receiving every first Saturday of the month all the girls, young women, and children who want to be prepared for any contingency such as street aggression or any other type,” he said.

So that women have more tools to protect themselves and feel safe.

He explained that they teach the most common techniques for the different situations they could face on the streets, in addition to awakening the alert instinct in them when they are out alone.

“We prepare them to always be alert and to have some options and tools for self-defense, here in our Club Samoa schools,” he said.

He mentioned that these schools are distributed in the municipalities of the metropolitan area and on the first Saturday of each month these types of activities are carried out free of charge.

“All schools are open on the first Saturday of each month to receive them, to give them a self-defense course. The schedule varies depending on each school, it is by reservation, but it is usually between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.,” he said.

There is a quota of 30 people per school

Rodríguez Vega explained that there is a limited quota of 30 people per class in each of the branches, so he invited those people interested in a place to contact 833 311 0858 to reserve a space.

“The importance of feeling safe and learning to defend yourself is that you learn to react, to shout, to ask for help, all of that is as important as knowing how to defend yourself,” she said.

She reiterated that this type of course is to prepare them and make them feel safer, in addition to having the ability to defend themselves against any type of aggression.
