The Government of Coahuila, through the Torreón Convention Center, the Torreón and Puerto Noas Cable Car, and the Torreón City Council, are joining Make Music Day 2025, organized by Grupo Gonher.
This musical celebration stems from the international commemoration of Make Music Day, an annual event held every June 21st to promote and celebrate music in public spaces. It seeks to empower everyone, regardless of their experience level, to unleash their inner musician.
Jorge González Sánchez, E-Commerce Director for Grupo Gonher, explained that this is the fourth time this event will be held in Torreón. “This year we have had tremendous support from the State Government, the Municipality of Torreón, the Convention Center, and others. We have prepared some really cool musical events, along with music production clinics that are completely free.”
Currently, 16 venues have registered. The idea is to fill the cities, squares, and streets with music. This is a non-profit initiative, and we aim to bring it to every corner of Torreón. There will be electronic music, classical music, rock, and DJs. For anyone interested in learning more about the program or signing up to participate, you can check it out at https://makemusic.mx/
Visitors to the Torreón Convention Center can participate in a raffle for a Renault Kwid car. To do so, download the “idealz” app, register, and you will automatically be entered into the competition. Music production clinics will be held at this venue from 11:00 a.m., and from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., international and local DJs led by Oso Humprey and Gamboa DJ will perform.
For his part, Rodrigo González Fernández, director of the CCT, commented that they are ready to host this world-class event and welcome more than seven DJs with their clinics and performances, where they will share all about the latest trends.
Additionally, Verónica Soto Díaz, director of the Torreón and Puerto Noas Cable Car, stated that they are ready to welcome the Toro Viejo Band to this ecological park; the event will begin at 7:00 PM.
Antonio Méndez Vigatá, director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Education, commented that this is the fourth consecutive year that the Torreón City Council has collaborated with Make Music, the music festival. There will be an opera gala at the Casa del Cerro; artistic performances of Mexican music at the Plaza de Armas; and an ensemble from the Coahuila Music Institute at the Torreón International Airport.
Because music moves us, Music Make Mexico seeks to encourage people’s active participation in music, breaking down barriers and promoting creativity in each of the Mexican cities where it is held. In Torreón, more than 12,000 people are expected to attend one of the 16 venues registered to date.
Present at this media presentation were: Natalia Hoyos Guerrero, Director of Tourism for Torreón; Lilia Aguilera Mascorro, Institutional Development Coordinator of the Arocena Museum; Jairo Ortiz, vocalist of Toro Viejo; Fernanda Solís, representative of Hijos del Sol; Emilio González of Grupo Shire Lagoon; Ethan Eager, Director of the Coahuila Music Institute; and Brandon Rocha of Grupo Los R,s.
