The Historic Center of Mexico City has witnessed countless stories of all kinds, including terrifying ones. In fact, ancient buildings still survive where unexplained paranormal events are said to occur.

On Halloween eve, the Mexican Agency for Paranormal Investigation (AMIP) and its founder, Antonio Zamudio, will launch a new season of the Unusual Tour, an experience that seeks to conduct field investigations to connect with spirits and beings from beyond.

This time, it’s time to explore a haunted house in the heart of Mexico City.

What is the haunted house in the Historic Center of Mexico City?

It is the so-called House of 400 Years, a colonial building that, according to the founder of AMIP, was built at the same time as Mexico City’s Metropolitan Cathedral.

It currently occupies number 4 República de Brasil Street, practically on the northeast corner of the cathedral.

According to Zamudio’s investigations, Franciscan and Dominican monks lived in the building and, for some reason, are still present, as shadows, noises, and other paranormal manifestations have been reported, depicting their figures in long, dark cassocks.

He also reports that, on the second floor, right in the so-called “Tailor’s Shop,” the ghost of a little girl appears.

Currently, this haunted house is rented out as commercial space, although many of them are unoccupied, and part of the building is deteriorating and in disarray, creating an even more macabre atmosphere.

What is the haunted house tour like in Mexico City’s Historic Center?

On previous occasions, Antonio Zamudio has specified that the Unusual Tour experiences are not a haunted house with constant scares, as on this tour, participants take on the role of the investigator.

“Beyond anything else, the idea is always to look for paranormal evidence, and the participants do everything. We are the guides, telling them where the paranormal manifestations occur and how to capture an image or communication,” Zamudio explains.

Thus, at the beginning of the activity, the AMIP team shares the historical context and the results of previous field investigations to understand “what is” on the property.

Then, it will be time to walk through the rooms, hallways, and courtyards in order to call and contact the monks and the girl.

Everything is done through psychophonic recordings, photographs, and videos, although Ouija sessions are also held, and Zamudio often brings possessed objects (such as a toy clown or a doll) that attract the entities.

At the end of the experience, a snack dinner is organized, where feedback is given on the Unusual Tour and any captured evidence is shared.
