Economic Growth and Investment Attraction

Tere Jiménez explained that, although the economic growth and development figures are encouraging, “it’s really an effort that has been underway for years.”

In a context where there is talk of “prosperity in Aguascalientes,” the governor explained that efforts have not only focused on attracting foreign direct investment, but also on supporting local entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which represent 60% of the state’s economy.

“Aguascalientes is competing with leading global powers, such as India, which was the country with the highest growth in the world, and Aguascalientes is growing by more than 6%. At the end of last year, we grew 6.2%,” she emphasized. This growth has been driven by the arrival of more than 66 new investments, both domestic and foreign, including the relocation of plants by companies like Nissan, which, according to the governor, “has yet to be measured.”

In addition to the automotive industry, which remains a fundamental pillar, Aguascalientes has diversified its portfolio with investments in sectors such as aeronautics, agriculture, textiles, and wine. “We are investing heavily in the countryside, converting crops to produce products like strawberries, asparagus, and plums,” said the governor.

This focus on agricultural conversion not only seeks to increase competitiveness but also to generate new export opportunities, generate greater profitability among producers, and strengthen the local industry.

In line with promoting business activity, the Aguascalientes government has implemented specific programs for entrepreneurs, such as loans of up to 15 million pesos through SIFIA (National Institute of Statistics and Census), as well as agricultural loans with preferential rates. “Aguascalientes has in-depth programs for entrepreneurs, and we have an agricultural loan like no other in the entire country with a 7% interest rate,” explained Jiménez, who emphasized that the state remains undeterred by global challenges.

Security and Peace as Pillars of Development

The governor also addressed the importance of security as a key component for attracting investment and ensuring the well-being of citizens. “To have peace and tranquility in the state, we must first be loyal to the citizens. We don’t sell Aguascalientes; we, Aguascalientes, respect it,” she stated.

Regarding progress in security, Tere Jiménez highlighted that Aguascalientes has managed to reduce crime by 11% in recent months. However, the governor emphasized that there is still work to be done: “We must continue to reduce the incidence because it is possible,” she stated.

In her opinion, education and sports are essential to keeping young people away from illicit activities, and she highlighted the more than 300 educational infrastructure initiatives implemented during the current administration.

Education as an Engine of Development

In her commitment to education, the governor highlighted the efforts to improve school infrastructure, particularly at the Aguascalientes Institute of Technology, which has begun construction of two new buildings focused on semiconductors and electromobility, key areas for the industry of the future. “The best engineering graduates in all of Mexico come from this university; they have dual certifications worldwide,” she noted.

Furthermore, Aguascalientes has excelled in international competitions, such as its recent victory in the Singapore Math Olympiad. “We are two-time high school math champions and gold medalists in middle school. We beat everyone,” said Jiménez, demonstrating that the state not only invests in infrastructure but also in the quality of education for its youth.

Technology and International Collaboration for a Safe State

On the other hand, the governor mentioned the C5I, an intelligence center that has been key in monitoring security in the state. “It is the best in the country, with cameras that have algorithms and systems that help us ensure that no crime goes unpunished,” she commented. In addition, the state has invested in training its police force, increasing the number of trained officers and improving security at the state’s entrances and exits with new control gates that incorporate advanced facial and license plate recognition technology.

Collaboration with international institutions, such as the FBI and the DEA, has also been part of the approach to ensuring security in Aguascalientes. “Aguascalientes is well protected, and we will continue to invest more,” the governor concluded.
