State Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona held a meeting with Takero Aoyama, the Consul General of Japan in León, during which he highlighted San Luis Potosí’s leadership in attracting international investment, especially from the Asian country.

The State Governor said that, during the meeting, the Japanese diplomat recognized the economic vision promoted by the State Government, emphasizing that San Luis Potosí is the only state in the country to establish a Representative Office in Tokyo, which positions the entity as a pioneer in strengthening the bilateral relationship with Japan.

“Opening this office in Tokyo and strengthening the relationship with Japan means creating opportunities for employment, development, and investment for the benefit of the people of San Luis Potosí,” said Governor Ricardo Gallardo, highlighting the cultural, academic, and economic benefits this initiative will bring.

He said that another topic discussed at the meeting was the importance of the Mexico-Japan Free Trade Agreement, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Its legal framework will enhance the impact of the Tokyo office as a strategic platform for promoting San Luis Potosí to markets in Asia and North America.

The president noted that during his tour of Japan in September, he held meetings with high-level authorities and companies, such as JETRO, Daikin, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mexican Embassy in Japan, and corporations such as Zensho Holdings, with whom he discussed investment projects in key sectors such as automotive, electromobility, agribusiness, and technology.
