Every Saturday, Mazatlán takes another step toward becoming a cleaner and more organized city with the Saturday cleanup campaign of the “Mazatlán, I Want You Clean” program. In its fourteenth edition, the program collected a total of 46 cubic meters of solid waste, equivalent to approximately 1,380 garbage bags or nearly seven dump truck loads.
Distributed across three strategic locations in the city—the Infonavit El Conchi housing complex, Las Torres Avenue, and the beachfront—officials from the Welfare Cabinet fully implemented the actions established in this important environmental sanitation program, spearheaded by Mayor Estrella Palacios Domínguez.
As part of the activities carried out by JUMAPAM (the municipal water and sanitation utility), a customer service module was also set up in the Infonavit El Conchi complex to bring the services of the Commercial Management Department closer to the residents of that area. There, 30 cubic meters of garbage, debris, and weeds were collected. Meanwhile, the Beach Management and Operations Authority (OAP) collected 10 cubic meters of debris from the beach, with support from volunteers from local schools.
The Public Works Department removed 6 cubic meters of waste from the medians of avenues, including weeds, junk, and furniture that had been dumped in these public spaces. The Mazatlán government reiterates its invitation to all citizens to collaborate in keeping the city cleaner.
