Mazatlán, known as “The Pearl of the Pacific,” is one of Mexico’s top tourist destinations thanks to its picturesque scenery, gastronomy, culture, and more, attracting many new tourists. From October 2024 to October 2025, the Ministry of Tourism registered 79,000 new tourists in the port city.
Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora mentioned that these new tourists reflect a destination’s popularity and that, in most cases, they return to the destination they first visited.
“We have great tourist destinations, one of them being Mazatlán. I’d like to share that from October of last year to this year, Mazatlán has welcomed more than 79,000 new tourists,” she announced in a video.
Rodríguez Zamora noted that from January to October of this year, more than 250,000 cruise ship passengers arrived in Mazatlán and that hotel occupancy also increased by 14 percentage points, averaging 60 percent for most of the year.
“Mazatlán is beautiful, and we also maintain 15 international routes from our main source markets, the United States and Canada. The U.S. and Canadian markets are growing in Mazatlán every year.”
At the beginning of December of this year, the Secretary of Tourism for Sinaloa, Mireya Sosa Osuna, stated that the outlook for the end of the year is positive for Mazatlán, with hotel occupancy estimated between 85 and 95 percent; some hotels are even reporting 100 percent occupancy.
She added that charter flights are already arriving, and in addition, cruise tourism is expected to bring nine more cruise ships between now and December 31. On New Year’s Eve, Mazatlán will receive three cruise ships in a single day.
