There’s a party in Layda’s kingdom in Campeche

Since February 5th, Campeche has been celebrating its traditional carnival, which lasts 15 days and will end next Wednesday. So far, so good.

However, we’re told that Governor Layda Sansores, a member of the Morena party, will grant three mandatory days off to Campeche government employees: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

We hear that the governor decided that Monday and Tuesday, which are designated as “Pintadera” days, will be non-working days because they are very intense days of celebration, color, and enjoyment. And you might ask, “What about Wednesday?” Well, it will also be a holiday because it coincides with the beginning of Lent, Ash Wednesday, and kicks off the 40 days leading up to Holy Week and Easter.

In the kingdom of Campeche, official calendars aren’t needed to mark holidays for public officials; a decree from her majesty is sufficient.
