The Sonora Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported the arrest in San Luis Río Colorado of a U.S. woman with an outstanding arrest warrant in California.

The woman, identified as 26-year-old Jennifer “N,” is wanted by the California District Court for violating a previously imposed sentence and escaping from a detention center where she was being held.

According to the statement, the arrest occurred on March 19 at the intersection of Amapolas B and Calle 9, in the Libertad neighborhood, by agents of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC).

Jennifer “N” was extradited to the United States in coordination with the National Migration Institute (INM) to comply with the corresponding court order and continue her legal proceedings.

Authorities did not provide details on how the operation that located the foreign woman, who was hiding in the state of Sonora, was carried out, but they emphasized that her capture was the result of a binational exchange of information.

The prosecutor’s office shared a photograph showing him standing at the foot of a metal gate at the border crossing between San Luis Río Colorado and Arizona.

His arrest and deportation come amid reports on social media of the presence of U.S. military personnel at the border in Nogales, Sonora.

In response, Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, during her Friday morning press conference, revealed that the personnel had overstepped the permitted boundary by two meters, but asserted that it was not an attempted intervention by Washington and did not elaborate on the reason for their presence.
