With over 50 participating taco stands, live music, and even a challenge for taco lovers, the second annual Taco Fest kicks off today.
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. on Hidalgo Boulevard, where visitors can sample a wide variety of tacos, from carne asada and al pastor to more creative creations.
This festival aims to bring families together around one of the region’s signature dishes: the taco.
But it’s not all about food. As part of the festivities, a boxing ring will be set up for fourteen matches, in addition to the “Taco Challenge,” where participants will attempt to eat 30 tacos.
One of the main attractions will be the creation of the largest al pastor taco in Hidalgo, measuring four meters in diameter, which will be prepared by students from the Vizcaya de Las Américas University.
To prepare this taco, 100 kilos of meat, 50 kilos of tortillas, 10 kilos of onions, 5 kilos of cilantro, 30 kilos of avocados, 30 liters of red salsa, 30 liters of green salsa, and 20 kilos of pineapple will be used.

Taco stands will compete in categories such as Best Carne Asada Taco, Best Taco al Pastor, and Most Creative Taco, and will also feature businesses that have been prominent at festivals like PercheFest and Dogo Fest.
The atmosphere will be enlivened with live music from groups such as Rock Evolution, Cuarto Frío, Grupo Vintage, and singer Dany Symons.
Taco Fest is part of the celebrations for Víactiva’s seventh anniversary, where a giant cake made of buns, created by culinary students, will also be shared.
