The municipality of Tancítaro, in Michoacán, achieved a new Guinness World Record by preparing the world’s largest guacamole, in a massive event that brought together hundreds of participants and celebrated one of Mexico’s most emblematic products: the avocado.
How was the world’s largest guacamole achieved?
The feat took place on April 10, 2026, as part of the Avocado Festival, where more than 800 volunteers participated in preparing the dish.
The result was a guacamole weighing 6,800 kilograms, equivalent to almost seven tons, a figure officially validated for obtaining the Guinness World Record.
To achieve this, large quantities of fresh ingredients such as avocado, onion, cilantro, chili peppers, and lime were used in a collective process that took about two and a half hours.
Tancítaro is recognized as one of the main avocado producers in the country, so this achievement also reflects the economic and cultural importance of the so-called “green gold” in the region.
Furthermore, the municipality is no stranger to this type of feat: it had already achieved previous records in 2013 and 2018, solidifying a tradition surrounding this typical Mexican dish.
With this new record, the previous mark set in 2022 by Peribán, which had reached just under five tons, was also surpassed.
The event was part of a strategy to boost tourism and the local economy, while strengthening the region’s identity as a global avocado powerhouse.
The guacamole preparation stood out not only for its size but also for the community participation that made the achievement possible, turning it into a collective celebration.
At the end, the dish was distributed among the attendees, closing the day with a festive and convivial atmosphere.
