The wait for the first pitch of the 2026 Mexican Baseball League (LMB) season ends this weekend, but the Guerreros fans will have to wait a little longer to see their new architectural gem. It appears that Estadio Yu’Va will not be ready for the Guerreros de Oaxaca’s first home series.

Through their official channels, the Guerreros organization has shared updates on the progress of this landmark project. Currently, the stadium is 80 percent complete. Although work is proceeding at full speed with hundreds of employees, the priority is to ensure every detail is perfect to deliver one of the most modern stadiums in Mexico by the end of May.

“It is being built with great effort and enthusiasm to bring to life a colossus that will witness the feats of the Zapotec people,” the team’s management stated.

As part of the ongoing progress, the installation of the synthetic turf began this past weekend, shaping the diamond that will make the stadium vibrate with its spectacular color.

The official schedule indicates that Oaxaca will debut at home on April 24 against the Olmecas de Tabasco. Since Estadio Yu’Va is still under construction, the possibility that the Zapotec team will play its first games at Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú, home of the Diablos Rojos del México, has gained traction due to the close ties between the two organizations.

Guerreros’ Opening Schedule:

April 17-19: Visit against the Pericos de Puebla.

Next series: Visit against the Bravos de León.

April 24: Home series (Venue to be officially confirmed).

The name Yu’Va, which means “Ball Game” in Zapotec, is no coincidence. The stadium’s design is a tribute to Oaxacan culture and celebrates the franchise’s 30th anniversary in the LMB (Mexican Baseball League).

Technical specifications of the new stadium:
Capacity: 8,000 fans.
Sustainability: 100% sustainable project with rainwater harvesting systems.
Parking: Underground parking for 500 vehicles.
Culture: The complex will include a library and museum.
Amenities: State-of-the-art professional lighting and a giant electronic screen.

What will make Yu’Va Stadium a unique tourist and sports destination is its visual design:

Textile Tribute: The roof is a large tensioned canvas that incorporates the graphic image of a traditional Oaxacan embroidery.
Regional Materials: The construction integrates regional brick and stone elements, evoking the monumentality of pre-Hispanic ceremonial sites. The seats are inspired by the colors of the different regions.
Versatility: In addition to baseball, the stadium is designed to host high-level concerts and cultural events.

Yu’Va Stadium promises to be not only the home of the Warriors, but also a new symbol of pride for the entire state of Oaxaca. The countdown to the opening of the tribe’s new home has begun!
